Insert a 0.015 feeler gauge between the pump arm and the adjustment screw bottom. The pump arm should move down a bit when the feeler gauge blade is inserted. The proper adjustment prevents the diaphragm from getting stretched to its maximum limit at wide open throttle.Loosen the screw SLIGHTLY, and turn the nut to adjust the float level. Once the front float is set, repeat the procedure for the rear float. Then adjust the air/fuel mixture as mentioned previously. The 4000 doesn't like too much fuel pressure. Recommended pressure is 4.5 psi, so no electric pumps. As there is a vendor out there selling fuel pump kits with incorrect return springs, not a bad idea to check the pressure.
