When you step on the brakes, it gets an electrical signal that turns it into a magnet, which is supposed to pull a pin out of the way so you can shift out of Park. Feb 19, 2024 · I get an occasional "shift to part" warning on my 2019 High Country. So far I am able to clear it by "snapping" or just pulling the trigger on the shifter. I fear that sometime in the future I will need to take the console apart and do a repair. What does the jumper in the above video do? Does it eliminate the park sensor switch?
So old faithful (faithful to break at least) is having problems again (2009 Chevy Malibu). The gear shift intermittently won't shift into Park. It will shift out and between any other gears with no problem. Unplug the harness going into the shifter assembly (drivers side, on the back.) and add the inline jumper. Put the trim piece back on and you're done.
