The Floyd County Humane Society first met in 1998 and officially incorporated in 2000, with immediate goals to reduce pet overpopulation, improve the local pound, and find new homes for unwanted animals. Our founding members included Floyd natives, long-time residents, and recent transplants. Our cat program began in earnest in 2005.

As an all-volunteer organization, funds are scarce and the work plentiful. Every dollar donated to the Floyd County Humane Society goes toward foster and adoption programs, spay/neuter and vaccine clinics, and other support services for local pets and pet families. Check out our wish lists below!
