So I had prodromal labor for nearly 3 weeks this past pregnancy (gave birth about 8 weeks ago), starting at around 36+4. I was having actual contractions as well, and did dilate to 2 cm, but basically continued having on and off contractions without much dilation progress till the real deal.

That being said, lots of women walk around dilated for much longer than a week, so just because you are at 3.5 doesn't mean you're about go. Good luck! With my first pregnancy I walked around 3 cm dilated and 50-90% effaced from 36 weeks on. I still went to 40w 2d. My labor went pretty fast when it actually started.
May 2015. You could be 3 cm dialated for weeks. It's hard to tell. Hopefully little one sits tight for a bit. I would just do some watchful waiting. If you have concerns I would call your OB/Triage or go to triage. I'll be 36 weeks next week.
