The greatest commonality between a 1911 and a 2011 is the slide. It looks and is pretty much the same as a 1911 slide. The controls are also the same. Same configuration, same feel, and all very familiar. A 2011 also retains the wonderful, smooth 1911 sliding trigger design. But you can’t use a 1911 trigger in a 2011.
