Ancient Nord armor isn't too bad either. Probably looks better on females though. It looks decent when paired with an adept hood. Daedric. Dwarven and Nordic are my personal favorites. To me the best looking armors are Ebony and Dwarven armors. Deadric is a solid third. It's just slightly less practical.

For a mage, the mages robe are fine. You can find unenchanted ones at the clothes shop in solitude. I had a redguard pirate with mourners robes and the white bandana.
