The same kind that it came with. Since your XJ is a 2001, it won't have plug wires or a distributor but instead has a coil pack ignition. As far as the E3 plugs or other fancy ones, thats your own decision.

I am running a Lokar shifter and I am aware that they sell a backup light kit to go along with this shifter, but frankly it is hookey. I was wondering what others did for reverse lights.

The easiest thing to do seems to be to replace the ashtray with another switch bezel complete with 12v power outlet. I'd need a part number on the bezel itself if anybody has it. They run about $45-80 on rockauto.
