Fully built 2.3 from speedperformance, 5858, mountune stage 1 transmission.I want to upgrade to a crate motor with just over 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque, 700R4 trans, and VBP suspension but I want to make sure the stock rearend can handle that power. I have read on this forum, 600 hp with street tires, 400 with slicks. If the rearend is in good shape. He has the weaker 80-82 rear end.

First of all you are looking 5,000-10,000 on a motor. The turbos are not cheap nor the motor. To get 400-500 horses out of a 318 is not that difficult. You need good heads, cam and intake.

A two-bolt main, cast crank bottom end, properly machined and assembled would be good for at least 550-600 hp. 6-6300 rpm limit. 4 bolt mains and a steel crank can handle 700hp and 7200 rpm. Authentication and pre-purchase inspection service still available. PM me for more information. :thumbsup:
