Sep 13, 2020 · Tested working, 2017 shift to park fix. A little over a month ago, I made a video showing how I adjusted the springs inside the shifter in an attempt to fix the shift to park issue. It seemed to help a little, but it did not last. So I was determined to find a true, lasting fix or a workaround.

This is a temporary work around for the "shift to park" message. We have found that if you press and hold the vehicle start button (don't step on the brake), the message will go away in a few moments. Apparently it wants to display the "press brake to start" and drops the "shift to park" message. Like. G.Shift lever can be moved to any position if ignition is in unlocked/run position but gear indicator is stuck on Reverse. I can not start the car. If I put lever all the way forward, “Park”, I can turn key to off and remove it. Is this the shift cable problem or a transmission problem. This is a 2008 Chevy Malibu LT.
