This person is incorrect. Regardless of your account size if you do 3 daytrades in a rolling 5 day period you are marked a pattern day trader. Your account is only restricted if it is under 25k though. In other words you can do as many day trades as you want without a restriction but you will hit pdt. Last I heard 25K was the threshold.
