Starting last week, when the setting changes from sleep to day schedule, the hvac won’t turn on. The ecobee shows that it’s calling for heat. If I turn the ecobee off and then turn the heat back on, it comes on. Now it seems like the hvac will turn on but then short cycle. I did a factory reset of the ecobee and same issue.
If it is an always on fan, it would be variable speed. You'd struggle to notice it. Ecobee cannot control variable speed fans. Your old tstat most likely lost it's settings when it was removed. I'd factory reset the thermostat and at the initial setup make sure fan control is set to HVAC. It sure sounds like you shorted something.
