And i also got a sidewall puncture in a tire.It is relatively simple to repair the level sensor on the passive def tank. There is a thread in the X5 E70 forum, posted by user Pixlfix. First though, just put about 4 or 5 liters of DEF into the passive tank. That should get you to the point where the engine control module logic will reset the SES or you can clear it with ISTA.

Your best bet is to run the def to a comfortably low level (33%), then add fluid.
