Lawn mower keeps shutting off.

Hey guys so my mower keeps turning off as soon as it comes on. Basically I hold the button down and pull the handle like you are supposed to. It turns on for about 2 seconds and then turns off and the battery indicator light flashes a couple of times and goes off. I have a Murray riding mower model 46503X8. I depress the clutch brake pedal to start the engine. The engine starts easily and runs when the brake/clutch switch is depressed. If I release the brake/clutch switch the engine shuts down.
