Marlin 81 parts.
I order parts #403640B NI (Marlin 81,81C,81DL) and #403640C NI (Sears 103.133, etc.) and both screws fit. The last part for the Sears 103 rifles didn't list my 103.229. Where all this got screwed up is Numrich's schematic for a Sears 103.229 and the Marlin 81 shows a magazine feed and mine is a slide tube feed.

The 80/81 series goes back a long way and has an excellent reputation for quality and accuracy. I believe they were replaced by the 780/781 around 1970. It's the first rifle he ever purchased for himself in the 60's. It's a Sears model 43-103, 19811, aka a Marlin 81. Some mild wear and a few dings, but it's rust free and in remarkable condition for a 50+ year old. Also has a nice peep site.
