Put the transmission in N and cycle the 4wd to 4 high or 4 lo. Sometimes you have to move a little put it back to Nuetral and cycle till the light goes off. When the VDC light is on you might've turned on the 4wd without doing it properly and it gets stuck in low range. Hopes this helps.

Not really sure what the problem was. They said the steering angle detector (or something like that) had to be re-adjusted and the computer had to be reset.
