I think it is about 90 miles long. You can go all week and never loose sight of land but sail for 3-4 hours a day and spend the morning or afternoon at a different mooring on a different island. With the USVI there are 3 main islands. The sail from St. Thomas to St. Croix is a little longer than up drake's channel.If the roads are dry, all the North Shore beaches can be accessed with a non-4WD. You'll just be limited in being able to use some of the side of the road parking where the drop offs can be significant.
