Nov 23, 2014 · 2012 Durango starting issues. The youtube link is from my 2012 Durango, 3.6L V6 Crew. We took it into the dealer when it was under the bumper to bumper 36k warranty they said it was to do with the security system and key fobs. It stopped acting up and then shortly after we rolled over to 38k problem returned every now and then.

Hard starts are usually ignition issues. It's easy to check for fuel issues, however. Simply try the ideal starting procedure (<5 seconds crank), pull a spark plug and check for fuel. If the plug is wet then you have fuel but either no spark or no compression.
Loosen the screw and unplug and clean off any dirt and debris, then put a coating of di-electric grease on the connections and plug it back in. I left it overnight and got a ride in this morning and it cranked without a problem. I had the battery tested and was told it's good.
If your starter clicks, jump it first. Usually the problem will start with a low (possibly getting bad) battery. If that is no help, then have the alternator tested. If the engine cranks briskly, your battery may be ok. You need fuel, spark, and compression to run. So, you are missing a least one. Have you tried battery reset to see if taking all of the systems back to zero helps? Disconnect negative cable, depress brake pedal 30 seconds, then reconnect and see what happens.

Aug 6, 2022 · Keep in mind, that if the battery has gone dead, been unhooked, replaced, etc. some of the codes may have cleared. Start with the ignition key at the off position. Rotate it from off to run (not start) 3 time within 5 seconds. you'll end up leaving it in run. Any stored codes will display on the odometer readout.
Intermittent won't run. My 2013 Citadel has developed a problem where it often won't run. Usually when cold. Typically will start after MANY attempts. Only symptom is it idles extremely rough, stalls if you give it throttle. When it eventually starts ok it's fine for a long while--until it sits & gets cold again.
