Another possibility is you have a stuck transfer case indicator switch/sensor giving you a false indication light. Look at the transfer case selector lever ...if it is in 2WD then the switch is likely stuck. Obviously if it is in 4WPart Time then the light is a reminder ....*not* to drive the Jeep on pavement, and just move it to 2WD position.

WD4! Update. It's been roughly 6 weeks without my Jeep. First, brought it in for the front RH wheel bearing replacement which ended up being a replacement of the wheel bearing and control arm. Upon doing the front end alignment, they needed to replace the axle.
