Introduction. This document describes how to troubleshoot PoE (Power over Ethernet) Imax errors on Catalyst 3650/3850 switches. PoE is used by Catalyst 3650/3850 switches in order to provide power to external devices such as Wireless Access Points (APs), IP phones, and so on via the Ethernet cable that attches them to the switch.My "show power brief" report lists 200 watts remaining available, and on slot A, 100 watts remaining power. Not all switches in the stack are affected by this - each switch has a single PWR-C2-1025WAC PSU and the power consumption is low for the affected switch (652.6 W remaining with 122.4 W used) I currently have my lan connecting by trunk fiber on port 28 on the cisco 2970. The TDR result from Gi 2/0/7 is of no use because all 4 pairs are reporting "OPEN" which means there is nothing connected to Gi 2/0/7. The result from Gi 2/0/9 shows Pair "C" as NORMAL. Pair "C" controls PoE, however, Pair "D" controls GigabitEthernet.
