Go back to the Firelink Shrine from the skeletons and look to your left. There's a path leading up the side of a cliff. That's where you're supposed to go first. Up on the screen came the words "nrrg nrrg" and I heard someone making sleeping sounds, but for the life of me I can't find anyone.Im not a lore master of dark souls but the light corresponds to time. So if the is no light, time is stagnant. So the dark firelink is “dark” so time is still. If you killed the maiden in the normal firelink she will rise again (respawn) because time is flowing. Time isnt moving in the dark firelink so she doesnt respawn.

It didn't work. She's still dead. You can't just drop any firekeeper soul. It has to be her firekeeper soul. The only way you can bring her back to life is to continue progressing through the game.
