Old Style Mec metal crimp starter. Hi: I'm looking for some help in finding a 6 pt metal insert for a old style Sizemaster sn77 press. I believe any of the old 600 jr, or versamatic will work. I have the press with a metal 8 pt. starter die. I order one from Mec last week , but I received one of the new 6 pt starter crimp dies.The 600 Jr. Mark 5 is MEC's most popular single stage model and for good reason. If you're like me, I can never find these references when I need them, and this is the old chart that predates the charge bars using powder bushings.

Mec 600 jr problem. I'm trying to setup a used Jr. and am not able to get the resizing position to not crumple the mouth of the hull. It is a 20 gauge, which I've not loaded for yet, 2 3/4". The only thing in the manual talks about is the de-capper should be adjusted all the way up into the housing to get it to resize the base, which it isn't ...The 600Jr has the Ring sizer. Comes without a primer feed. The Sizemaster has the Collet Re-sizer, and comes with a primer feed. You would want to up grade the 600 Jr with a primer feed anyway, and as stated above, the Collet re-sizer is far superior to the ring sizer of the 600. As far as I'm concerned, the Sizemaster is the best single stage ...The MEC 600 uses a ring resizer, as does Hornaday & RCBS, and P_W resizes by pressing the hull into a sleeve that carries it all the way through the reloading cycle. Not sure what Spolar or Dillon does, but think they do similar. All metallic (rifle/ pistol) reloaders use the same principle as the ring sizer.Burnt Powder. Wipe the dirt off and oil the parts that move with the exception of the charge bar and the hinge where the top folds back. They do not need any lubrication. The charge bar needs to be clean and if you lube it at all, a little graphite or silicon spray will do the trick. The 600 Jr is about as simple as it gets.

My older MEC 600's could be adjusted to load 2 3/4" or 3" with a few extra parts. I see that the MEC 600 JR 410 presses are offered in 2 1/2" or 3". ...
